This one is a little different from most I play… it’s called “Hellrising”, and is an MMORPG. It’s browser based, so anyone can play it (Well, as long as you have internet explorer 4 or so :P) and is heaps of fun. It is basically like an old text adventure game, with a slightly nicer console, with a small “map” in which you click one of 8 directions to move that way. There is no story, the game is simply based on wandering around, collectiong useful things like weapons and health packs, and killing other players (all human players too). There are three races: Human, Zombie and Vampire. Humans have the advantage of barricading buildings and using firearms, but when you die as a human, you have to wait for someone to inject a revival serum into you or else you become a vampire or zombie (depending on how you die). Vampires have the advantage of fangs which heal you as you attack other people, and a “cursed blood” skill which enables them to always rise as vampires when killed, regardless of how they die or if they are revived by a human. However their attacks do considerably less damage than, say, an assault rifle. I don’t really know about Zombies, since I haven’t played as one yet, but they seem pretty crap.

The game works via the use of “AP”, which stands for action points. An action point is used every time you perform an action such as moving, attacking, reviving, entering a building etc. You gain 15 AP’s an hour, and there is a limit to the stored APs you can have (The limit varies per species, as does max health). Ahh well, enough rambling, go get into the game! Once you are there, you can join a group for extra depth, and depending on the group you can work together for ulterior motives (like attacking another groups base). The url is http://www.hellrising.com .

What are you waiting for? Enter the horrors that await in Twilight City!

I posted a post last night, but the net evidently wasn’t working, and didn’t post… so here it is:

“Well, 4 of my 5 trials are done… and I think most of them went ok. I have another at the end of the month.

Also in my life, the last couple of evenings I’ve spent helping out backstage with Dad for a performance of “Beauty and the Beast”… It’s been good fun, despite some setbacks. Part of the scenery is a large backdrop, broken into three sections. On one side is a town face, and on the other it is a balcony. This is broken into 3 sections, each about4 metres long, 1.5 wide and nearly 3 tall. Each of these weighs about 500 kg. Now, these are supposed to be turned around several times throughout the play, to change the scene. Therefore for the first performance, they were on wheels. Guess what happens half way through? The small wheels broke . Lots of little ball bearings went all over the stage, and we had to move this huge prop by just scraping it along the ground. So after that, we now have to use blocks of wood covered in lubricant… which means it’s quite a workout! We are hoping to have big wheels by Wednesday though (There is a performance tomorrow, Wednesday, Friday and two on Saturday).

Other than that, I haven’t really done much with myself… so goodnight “

Anyway, other than that, I’ve pretty much just been revising and bumming around doing cool stuff… Like Battlefront 2 and Exile. I’ve lately just gotten into a new band too… it’s a bit screamo, but still cool - Powerman 500. They’ve been going for ages, and I found out about them through a Tony Hawk soundtrack …. so nerdy.

It is far too late on a saturday night… 1:39, to be exact. But I can’t sleep, and I haven’t blogged in ages so in my fevered delerium I thought of this.

I suppose I should tell people what’s been going on in my life

I’ve mainly been trying to get ready for my trials, which are starting on Tuesday… the only problem is I’m quite a bit behind in my work, and have zero motivation. Ahh well, other than that I’m fine.

Other than that, I’ve been playing a coupleof computer games after 10 PM before I go to bed… the first is an ancient RPG called Exile: Escape from the Pit. It’s a very old style ques/combat based RPG, and very enjoyable. No new fangled 3d graphics for me. Besides, my computer runs it perfectly. The other is The Battle for Wesnoth, with is an open source turn based strategy game. It has very good gameplay, despite the rather generic races/moves/maps. It’s good for a free game though… just google either of the games and you’ll find some fun.

Other news… well, we had Jen down for a week. We don’t any more, but it was good to get to know her a bit better. Yesterday (Friday), I went down to the falls with Josh, Hugh me and Jen, and we picked up Naomi from the restaurant where sheis doing a few days work experiance. We then did the long trail around the west rim, going all the way to the end. it was very enjoyable, and I am thinking of doing it more often. I’ll post some photos of it in the photos section later.

I should really get to sleep, since I’m feeling even sleepier now. This blog took only 7 minutes to write, which is much faster than my previous ones.

Cya later everyone,

Dan

Hey again…

I promised Hannah that I’d write something new here about 4 days ago, but until now haven’t gotten around to it.

I’ve been getting ready to do HSC Trials, starting on the 10th July, so I’ve been kind of busy. Unfortunately doing OTEN isn’t really the best way to stay motivated, and I don’t feel ready yet. I still have enough time to study though. Anyway, enough about boring stuff….

Other than schoolwork I haven’t really gotten up to much. Hmm…. hey if anyone has 5 minutes, check out a funny video on Youtube:Pachelbel Rant. It’s hilarious…. but the sad thing is that I can now play it on guitar and quote the entire song

Another little interesting bit of info is that I’m going to purchase several computer components and build a new PC… which will be awesome, since my current computer is a little worse for wear . The specs of the new PC currently are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6420, clocked at 2.13 Ghz and with 4 Mb lvl 2 cache, 1033 Mhz bus speed

RAM: Probably 1 Gb of cheap and nasty DDR2 566 Mhz, until I can afford some better stuff.

Hard Drives: I’ll most likely use one of my existing 40 Gb drives, and get a new 80 Gb one until I can afford more

GPU: A GeForce 7300 PCI-e, until I can afford a better one (I’m starting to sound monotonous )

Optical Drive(s): I’ll use my existing 16x DVD burner

I should be getting the mobo in about a week, and hopefully the processor and RAM within the next month. Then I’ll finally be able to use Windows Move Maker and play Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines!

Ahh well, I’d better get back to physics…. catcha all around.
Oh, and sure, anyone who wants to add me to their blogroll feel free

Well, according to the title…

The “Pleasant Sunday Afternoon” is an organised concert thingo run by MV (Moss Vale) Uniting Church every now and then. Today was the first for this year, and th church had asked Sing Australia to sing as entertainment. Therefore I went too to accompany them. It started at 2, but I got there at 1 so as to warm up and all that jazz. We had a few songs I’m not all that good at (well I don’t think so ).. so I fiddled with those for a little while too. We played the songs in three sets of 5 songs each…. if I can remember them all I’ll write them tomorrow. Bob Guinness (I have no idea how that name is spelled ) and Rhonda did some stuff in between each bracket (Bob - violin and Rhonda - piano). All in all I thought it didn’t go too badly… I messed up a couple of songs though. Everyone else said they thought it was fantastic though…. so now I have a head the size of a hot air balloon . There was a pretty good afternoon tea afterwards, and then I helped Rhonda pack up. I got home, did some maths, watched two Robin Hood episodes (last weeks taped and this weeks), did more maths, and now I’m lying in bed typing this…

Ah well, more later. Probably. Maybe. Perhaps. Unlikely. Pfft… of course I’ll write more later. I love just typing the first thing that comes into my head, like mmhmm mmhmm mmhmm…

Danno the rather tired and whacked out <strike>man</strike> kid.

Well, it’s 11:45 on Friday night…. just after the footy!! I’ve done mostly nothing today except for Maths (which I have a helluva lot to do before July). I also played a little Mount and Blade…. hey! I haven’t yet put in a plug for M&B! O.K, here we go:

Mount and Blade is a medieval combat/RPG game which I have been obsessing over for the past 5 months. It has decent graphics, and limited quests, but where this game shines is the incredibly good gameplay. It has horseback archery/sword fighting the likes of which have never been seen before. You will almost feel like you are there when you swing your Sword of War straight into an enemies neck… The game works by having a game “map” on which you travel by selecting where you want to go. On the way you can be intercepted (and intercept :P) parties of different troops. You are then taken to a 3d arena style battlefield on which you play rather like an FPS. The other really good aspect of this game is the ability to build up a party of men to battle with you. You can “hire” different NPC’s, but the innovative idea here is that you can also just hire generic troops and upgrade them. Ah well, I’ve rambled on about this enough for now, so why don’t you go check it out yourself? The link is in the Links section to the right, under Taleworlds…

Other than that, I hope you all have a great night. Catcha around,

Daniel
