I’m addicted already :S

June 14th, 2007 by Daniel

Well, yup! I’m addicted to blogging…. something I said I never would be. I’m currently trying to study some maths….

I also wanted to mention that this morning I went to Rhonda’s place (She is the conductor at a choir I accompany on the piano), and we practiced some songs for a concert that will be held at the Moss Vale Uniting Church next Sunday. On another note, I deleted all my illegal music *sobs*, so now I don’t have some of my fav Bodyjar and Lagwagon stuff…. oh well, time to pull out some money and go buy it :P . I’ve also recently been listening to a little Barlow Girl… not my usual cup of tea, but it’s been a nice change!

Cya for now,

Damn Queensland GRRR

Ahhh, the Maroons have beaten the NSW Blues and won the series (for you non-footy fans :P ). It wasn’t really fair, since the referee missed a forward pass which led to the winning try. Now I have to wait for a whole year for the next State of Origin to see the Blues get the trophy back :(  Oh well… there’s a lesson to be learned somewhere here…. but for the life of me I can’t think what it is.

Camp!!

June 13th, 2007 by Daniel

Well…. over the weekend I have been hanging out with some awesome people at Winter Camp!

It started on Friday, and I got there early because Mum and Dad are camp parents. I sort of just hung around for a while in the Juniors section (years 7-10) before heading up to the Seniors area (I’m in year 12 currently). There was almost no one around, so me and my little bro James just watched some dodgy cartoons (Grossology… :P) for a while. Then people started arriving. I met a great leader called Joe, and he and I found a room together.

After that I just bummed around, before sitting behind the desk with Sian and Kelly and made dumb comments as campers filed past rego….. fun :)!  The rest of the evening was taken up with meeting loads of old friends, and making some new ones. I met some great guys in our room, Stan and Jono, whom I’d met before, and Cameron and Luke. We spent most of the weekend together, listening to music, making dumb farting jokes and seeing the number 7 everywhere…. Go the Hoods!

The food was a million times better than last Summer Camp (except the scrambled egg and the sausages :P), and the activities were just awesome! Mostly we just got free time, with some activities to do if we wanted. It was such a nice change from the structure of earlier camps.

The next morning we all got up late, and stumbled to the dining hall for breakfast. I borrowed a Bible from Kel (Because I had left mine at home accidentally) and we set off in buses down to the Auditorium, which was a fair distance away at Junior Camp. We had the morning session (including a rather wonky video of my bro Jono), and then went for morning tea. I happened to lose Kel’s spare Bible there…. and had to go get it after lunch :P.

We then went back to Seniors for our talks. They were quite good… not always exactly on topic, but still quite thought provoking. After this we did small study groups. Unfortunately I never really get into the groups with only such a small time together, but we still had some quite good (and off-topic :P) discussion about pain and suffering, and how we can practically get our life in shape.

As I said, the afternoon activities were rather laid back, which also made the structured evening activities more fun too. I spent most of my time just hanging out with good friends (Like Hannah and Dunc :P). We then proceeded to have supper and go to bed…. well sort of :). Joe let us stay up heaps late and play poker and stuff until we got tired at about 1 AM, at which point we started talking about movies until 2.

The next day was a lot the same, except we spent our time in Stanwell Tops main centre….. and I though Moss Vale was a hole!!! Not meaning to be critical, but it was heaps boring :P. I mostly hung out with Jono, Dunc, Junji and Phil… and we bummed around the various “tourist attractions”. Even the petrol station was listed as a tourist attraction they were so desperate!!!

That evening we had the band night… which to be honest I found boring. Some of us played poker up the back of the hall, until we had to go in for the talk. It was very well done, despite my opinion that the passage on the paralyzed man is not exactly the ideal choice for an alter call. I also got a lecture from Dad that night, which I wasn’t prepared to accept at the time, which kinda dampened my enthusiasm a bit. I soon got it back by winning the “Poke Wars” against Hannah though :D!

The next day we left after lunch, and I said goodbye, got photos and email addresses, yada yada yada….

And now I’m at home, back to the usual OTEN and MSN! With a little Bodyjar thrown in :P

This is a blog created at the prompting of Hannah, and I therefore dedicate it to her! She also happens to have given me the not quite truthful name….

Here is a pic of us (I’m on the left, she is on the right):
